Dr. Teresa hairston Jackson
Dr. Teresa Hairston Jackson is a visionary Christian leader, an accomplished educator, a pioneer in gospel music journalism, and a passionate minister of the Gospel. Her journey is one of faith, determination and legacy—all of which make her story inspiring for anyone pursuing purpose.
In 1989, Teresa founded Gospel Today Magazine, a glossy urban Christian lifestyle magazine, which began as a humble four-page newsletter and grew into the longest-running and most widely distributed publication of its kind.
Recognizing the importance of preserving the Gospel heritage and equipping future generations, Dr. Hairston Jackson founded the Gospel Heritage Foundation in 1994. Through its work and annual International Worship Summits, the foundation has served thousands of pastors, worship leaders, musicians and ministers across the globe.
In 1982, she earned a Master’s Degree in music education, and in 2007, earned a Doctor of Ministry degree (D.Min). As an ordained elder, preacher and teacher—she shares relevant messages that combine faith with career.
Teresa joined the Africana Studies Department at the world-renowned Berklee College of Music (Boston) as Associate Professor in 2024, and teaches “Gospel Music: Advanced Studies in Artistry, Industry and Culture,” bringing over 40 years of gospel-arts leadership into the classroom.
