Who is Teresa Hairston?
Dr. Teresa Hairston is the founder and publisher emeritus of Gospel Today Magazine; which she started in 1989 as a four-page newsletter. At the time, she was a divorced mother of three young children, and was able to scrape together only $300 to invest in her “dream” of becoming a publisher. That’s it. She had $300, three small children, no husband and a dream.
Today, the oldest of those three children owns and operates Gospel Today. Her dream has not only come true, but it has become a generational legacy.
Along the way, Hairston has become a major force in the international Gospel community. For 10 years, she was the on-air host of the Gospel Today TV Show (which aired weekly via DirecTV); she also hosted a nationally-syndicated news and entertainment segment on radio, entitled, “the Gospel Today Update.”
Hairston has interviewed everyone who’s anyone in Gospel music and ministry; she’s also served as host of two Gospel celebrations at the White House
In 1996, she founded The Gospel Heritage Foundation, a non-profit organization that hosts the nation’s #1 “Praise & Worship Conference.” In 2005, Hairston launched her own record label, Gospel Today Entertainment which released two nationally-acclaimed CD projects. Hairston is a minister of the Gospel, with an earned Doctor of Ministry degree. In 2010, she was ordained as an elder by Bishop Liston Page, Sr.
Her motto is: “When God gives you a vision, He’ll make the provision!” Her favorite scripture is Romans 8:28: “And we know that all things work together for good, to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” In 2010, she published her first book, “How to Pursue Your Purpose” –in which she shares biblical principles that help readers unlock and actualize their own dreams.
“My goal in life,” says Hairston, “is to use everything that I’ve been through, everything that I am and everything that I endeavor to do to glorify God and build His Kingdom. I want to help people understand that they can achieve their God-inspired visions. Just step out on faith, and watch God make the way.”
